Welcome to the Kansas University Teachers and Employees Association (KU T.E.A.) web site. When can I apply for this insurance?

If you have not joined KU T.E.A. before, you can join and apply for all insurance plans at any time. If you are already a KU T.E.A. member, you can do so at any time but you will be required to complete a health questionnaire.

When do I pay the $1 fee?

Your one-time $1 membership fee is added to your first monthly premium.

Are all children covered with just one rate?

Yes, the premium paid for child coverage is based on the cost of coverage for one child, regardless of how many children you have. Children are covered through age 18 or through age 25 if a full time student.

Can a member purchase Term Life insurance or AD&D coverage on their spouse without purchasing coverage on themselves?

Yes, spouses are able to purchase a standalone policy without the Member purchasing coverage.

Is the rate monthly?

Yes, the premium rate is a monthly rate; however, you may pay any number of months at one time.

How do I pay for the benefits?

Your premiums will be electronically withdrawn from your designated banking account on a monthly basis. Once you have completed the authorization form attached to the Group Term Life enrollment application, you will receive confirmation stating when your premiums will be deducted.

Do I have to answer any health questions?

Yes. If you are applying for individual long-term care coverage through Legacy Services, there are health questions for underwriting purposes on these polices.

Is the coverage portable?

Yes, if you leave the University, you may take this valuable coverage with you at the same rates and benefit schedule.
